LIMITED EDITION CBG

This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history. We are commemorating the World’s Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival with a limited edition, 19th Anniversary, resonator guitar. Only 10 of these guitars are being built and will be numbered and signed by the artist, Jeff Mello cbg luthier and owner of The Cigar Box Guitar Store.

A drawing for guitar #1 of 10 will be held on June 3, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Lowe Mill A&E. The remaining nine guitars will be sold with proceeds split evenly between the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation and the Arts Huntsville's Creative Launchpad.

Serial numbers 2-10 of this limited edition guitar will be available for purchase for $285 each by visiting The Cigar Box Guitar Store at Studio 106 in Lowe Mill A&E or contacting them. Guitars can be shipped anywhere in the world.

This cigar box guitar is made from a Tabak cigar box with a customized paint can lid resonator featuring a logo marking this historic event. The neck is crafted from locally harvested Hickory. The 25” scale, 1.5” wide fretboard features banjo-styled fret markers. Diamonds are etched at the side fret markers to aid the right-handed player. A single coil magnetic pickup with volume control is positioned under a black aluminum cover. A strap button is affixed to the box to secure your favorite strap.

Other notes on construction and finishing details:

  • A delrin string guide and jumbo size zero fret wire establish the nut position.

  • Strings are at .5” spacing and tuned to open G (GDg).

  • Wood surfaces have 3 coats of acrylic lacquer and are polished to a silky-smooth finish.

  • To protect internal wiring from breakage from transit and usage shock and vibration, all soldering is performed to industrial workmanship standards. Solder joints are covered with silicone to provide strain relief.
